More than any other occasion, weddings are events where inexperienced public speakers are called upon to deliver a speech. Many best men and fathers of the bride deliver wonderfully funny and memorable speeches. Others are muttered nervously by dry-throated speakers with beads of sweat running down their foreheads. Poetry offers a wonderful get-out for such reluctant speechmakers as well as providing a poignant and unforgettable moment for the happy couple. The books below provide a wide range of verse appropriate for weddings, whether civil or religious, traditional or new age.
